Busting Midlife Food Myths

Let's chat about some foods we have been TOLD are basically magic for our health because some of them are not quite pulling the weight we think they are and it is time for a little truth!

Iceberg lettuce. We love a good salad but iceberg is basically crunchy water with almost zero nutritional value.

Swap it for spinach, arugula, or romaine and you are actually getting iron, fiber, and folate that your midlife body needs.

Fruit smoothies. We think we are being SO healthy but a lot of smoothies are basically a sugar bomb in disguise with very little protein, which means your blood sugar spikes and crashes fast.

Fix it by adding a scoop of protein powder, Greek yogurt, or nut butter to actually make it work for you.

Diet foods and low-fat products. When they take the fat out they almost always add sugar and fillers to make up for the flavor.

Whole foods with healthy fats like avocado, eggs, and nuts are going to do SO much more for your hormones and energy in midlife than anything that says "low fat" on the label. 😬

Apple cider vinegar. It has its benefits, but it is not the metabolism miracle we have been sold.

What WILL actually move the needle for midlife women is consistent protein intake, strength training, and quality sleep

The bottom line? Real, whole, protein-rich foods are always going to out-perform the trends …and now you know! 💚
